Continual mowing of grassed areas leads to the accumulation of dead and dying organic matter. This matter, “thatch” requires a SCARIFICATION process to remove the debris and allow the grass root zone to thrive. Scarification is carried out in the early autumn or early spring and can be followed by a Top-dress and re-seed to provide a kick-start for the growing season.

This condition impedes drainage and prevents fertilizer penetrating the root zone. Lawn AERATION during the autumn and spring enables the temperature to rise more quickly and the lawn surface to breathe.
